Selling your home is a long, sometimes inconvenient process. It involves packing, adjusting your schedule around showings, a lot of negotiating, and more. Honesty is the best policy through it all... here are some facts that will help make the process go smoothly.

  1. A clean, uncluttered home sells. Putting in a little elbow grease will grow your profit by thousands. Get rid of odors, hide small knick-knacks, and make sure the floors sparkle!
  2. Overpricing your home helps sell your neighbor’s home. Picture this – buyers are qualified to buy within a certain price range. They’re looking in a certain location, but your home won’t show up in a home search out of their price range, so it may not even come across their radar.
  3. Trying to hide a defect will haunt you. No one wants to get a call from an attorney who says the buyers are suing for a structural issue that you knew about but chose not to disclose…
  4. Cooperation is the name of the game. Don’t fight the buyer, listen to your agent, pack away your boxing gloves. Things will go smoothly with a little give and take!
  5. What you love isn’t what a prospective buyer loves. Neutralize colors, pack up mounted hunting treasures, etc. Make it so the buyer can picture themselves living there!
  6. Closing date is move out date! Everything needs to be packed, moved out and cleaned. Unfortunately, you can’t go back to finish things you never got to.
